Bringing a deep passion for African and Caribbean cuisine, cultural authenticity, and business innovation.
Originally from Nigeria, Gideon grew up in a family of successful retailers, with his parents running a thriving grocery business in Ibadan, OYO state and FCT Abuja, giving him first-hand experience in supply chains, customer service, and retail operations from an early age.
With a BSc in Geology and Mineral Science from the University of Ilorin and an MSc in Environmental Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, Gideon combines his analytical and business skills to develop a sustainable, customer-focused retail operation. His career spans environmental consultancy, business operations, and regulatory compliance, ensuring a structured approach to inventory management, supplier relationships, and financial sustainability.
Recognising a significant gap in the Edinburgh market for African and Caribbean groceries, Gideon founded B&G Afro-Caribbean Store to provide a dedicated, high-quality shopping experience for diverse communities.
